Flowers - Three Ways

I found this lovely picture of Plumeria and knew I wanted to paint it. I loved the colors. It looked like it wasn’t real. I also wanted to do some experimenting. The top painting is my first quick attempt. In the second, I basically used the same techniques but tried to make it look more photographic. The third painting, I wanted to try something new and more abstract. I wet each petal and then dropped the color onto the wet paper allowing the colors to run together. I really like how it turned out. It was like magic watching the colors flow and do their own thing. The scans don’t really do the color of the paintings justice. If anyone has figured out how to successfully scan watercolors, please let me know!
