MATS February Assignment - Wall Art

I was pretty excited about the February assignment for the Make Art That Sells Bootcamp. We were still going to be doing a scene based on our research and it was still going to be round, but it was going to be wall art. And it was to be painted on a piece of wood! That was exciting to me because I am way more comfortable with traditional medium (like paint) than digital. Even though I want to become more comfortable making art digitally, this assignment was a welcome distraction!

I was able to find slices of wood from Michael's. I got two different sizes in case I messed up and also because I had a couple ideas.

This is the first idea I painted and mocked up.

The scene I ended up submitting to the MATS gallery was an idea I got from my grandmother's swan dive photograph.

I am happy with it but, of course, there are things I wish I could change. I do kind of wish I had let more wood show through in the sky. Like maybe instead of solid blue, just have a blue wash. I think that would've made the bunny pop a little more. I'm thinking of turning this into a series and having other scenes of bunny's friends doing fancy dives, too. :)
